The Avengers was an experiment that everyone was waiting to see. Not just from an entertainment standpoint. We wanted to know how it would work with all of the characters. Each of the main cast would have to have a moment to shine. It’s the only way to keep the franchise going.

On a team with Thor, the Hulk, and Iron Man, how would Black Widow, Hawkeye, and Captain America measure up? Well, we saw test results and it was all good. You can say that picking the entire team is a copout, but is it really? Let’s look at the facts.

First, each of the characters had a moment to shine. Some grander than others, but some were more entertaining. Hawkeye catching Loki with the exploding arrow may not have been as important as Iron Man and the nuke, but they were both memorable. Hulk and Thor took out more Chitauri than Captain America and Black Widow, but they both played a critical role in their defeat.

You can’t watch this movie and say who was the greatest character here. Any of them could have been picked. In fact, Phil Coulson could have been selected as well. Without his sacrifice, the Avengers wouldn’t have been put together. He was just as incredible and funny as he was in every scene. So much so that he ended up coming back to life and starring in his own show. Nevertheless, The Avengers are equally as good in this film.
