The Flash season 7’s second episode revealed a major return that shocked viewers to their core. But how is it even possible?

The Flash season 7 has only just begun and it’s already leaving fans in shock. In fact, it hasn’t really begun yet because the Arrowverse show still finishing off the remaining season 6 episodes before it kicks off its own narrative. Now that really indicates just how big the show is going this season.

The season premiere was a thrilling episode that saw the heartbreaking demise of a beloved character. Nash Wells sacrificed himself in the hopes that Barry Allen would regain his speed through the means of the new Speed Force and that’s exactly what happened.

It was an emotional moment that brought about the end of an era for Tom Cavanagh. However, don’t get too worried about his apparent departure because the ending of the second episode of The Flash season 7, The Speed Of Thought”, saw Tom Cavanagh return as a very different version of Harrison Wells.

Who is Tom Cavanagh playing in The Flash season 7?

It came as a shock when Nash Wells died in the season 7 premiere because it left us all wondering if Tom Cavanagh would return to the show that the sole-surviving Wells had perished (while all the others that existed within his seemingly perished too). However, all’s well did not end this Wells.

Yes, Cavanagh is now reprising the role of the original Harrison Wells. We are, of course, talking about the one and only Wells that was first taken over by the original Eobard Thawne a.k.a. the Reverse-Flash.

Reverse-Flash returned earlier in the season when he revealed that he hitched a ride with all the multiverse’s other Wells so that he could survive Crisis On Infinite Earths. He tried to take over Nash’s body but Team Flash found a way to expel him into the atmosphere, seemingly defeating him forever. Clearly, that was not the case.

It seems that the death of Nash meant that one of the other Wells could now exist on Earth-Prime. What better choice than the original Wells.
