DC Comics Infinite Frontier No. 0 shows how DC Future State was more than a two month long event. It connects to the future of DC Comics as well.

The DC Comics Future State crossover is finished, but not it’s over… not entirely. The two-month long comic book event showcased one of the possible futures that may happen to DC’s characters.

Some of the things we’ve seen may come to pass, while others may not. For the most part though, everything is back to normal. Well, as normal as things can get in DC Comics. Now the new event Infinite Frontier has begun. In issue No. 0, we see that the events of Dark Nights: Death Metal and Future State have affected the universe.

Origins of the Magistrate in DC Infinite Frontier?

One of the biggest parts of DC Future State was the rise of the Magistrate. The organization was hired to keep masked heroes out of Gotham City, shooting them on sight if they crossed paths with them. This leads to the “death” of Bruce Wayne, a new Batman taking over, and some of the Bat-Family incarcerated. It looks like this could still happen.

Infinite Frontier opened with a deadly attack by The Joker. It appears that the Clown Prince of Crime has shown up and killed a bunch of people in Arkham Asylum (though this writer isn’t entirely convinced that it’s him). Among the victims is Bane – who was still in restraints, but with a giant grin on his face due to Joker Toxins.

Batman tried to help the last officer standing, but inadvertently caused the deaths of the remaining people in Arkham Asylum. When the Gotham PD arrived, they told Batman that he was under arrest, resulting in the Mayor in Gotham officially declaring no more masked vigilantes were to fight crime in Gotham. If we’re going by what happened in DC Future State, the Magistrate could be coming next.
