Alan Scott comes out

Comic book readers have know that Alan Scott was gay for some time now but what happened here was much more than the fans knowing. He came out to his kids.

This was a moment that wasn’t easy for him even though he knew that his children loved him unconditionally. His son knew, however, and was giving him words of encouragement as he tried to get the words out. Finally, Alan said, “I’m gay.” His daughter immediately hugged him. She was shocked that he’d kept it from her so long, but happy that he told them.

An emotional moment indeed, but perhaps the most striking part was his realization that he could go into his new job without any fear. He was free.

New Wonder Woman

With Wonder Woman’s disappearance, it was time for a new Amazonian to step up. A bunch of them were fighting for the right to be the next Wonder Woman. Diana’s mother Hippolyta stepped in and asked who would be prepared to face death for the honor. Then three of them volunteered – that was until they were told that they’d have to look Medusa in the eyes. Death is one thing, but a life of stone is another.

Only one was truly ready. Nubia was that woman. With Nubia in charge, Hippolyta set out on a mission to find an Amazonian named Yara in Brazil.
