The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is here and the premiere episode revealed that the titular heroes may not be fighting crime on their own.

Fresh off a huge success with WandaVision, Marvel Studios unveiled its next chapter to the world: The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Releasing on Disney Plus on Friday, it focused primarily on Sam Wilson’s attempts to honor his seemingly fallen friend Steve Rogers. As far as he was concerned, the right way to do that was to return the shield Steve gave him and preserve Captain America’s timeless legacy.

Legacy is undoubtedly a running theme of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Hardly surprising considering fans are convinced the show will conclude with Sam becoming the next Captain America – but Sam isn’t the only one who may be stepping into another hero’s mantle as it seems that he too could have his own successor.

Who is Joaquin Torres in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier?

Joaquin Torres was present in the show from the very beginning. Portrayed By Danny Ramirez, the young man was on the ground during Sam’s mission in the sky in the episode’s opening moments. The two then had a brief conversation about the whereabouts of Captain America before parting ways. However, Joaquin would continue to investigate the mysterious Flag-Smashers.

In the All-New, All-Different Marvel comics, Joaquin ends up following in Sam’s footsteps and becomes the Falcon – that is, after Sam vacates the mantle so that he can become the next Captain America. Now, considering that it’s looking like that’s where the narrative is heading in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, there’s a a pretty strong chance that we’re about to see our new Falcon in the MCU.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier adds a new episode to Disney+ every Friday.
