When we were first introduced to Tony Stark in the original Iron Man, we would have never even added him to the roster of potential romantic partners. But over the years, he has shown a level of growth and maturity that proves that anyone can learn to be a loving individual.

Tony is not your typical hero. He isn’t altruistic, and he suffers no fools. But when it comes to Pepper Potts, he has proven that he can be as romantic and self-sacrificing as any superhero. And his love for his child and Pepper is proof beyond all measure that he is an epic romantic partner. Forget the fact that he took Peter Parker under his wing and felt completely destroyed when he was unable to protect the boy he was trying to look after.

As Iron Man, Tony is a tech genius in a suit that allows him to be a hero. But as a man, he is someone who has a sense of humor, a willingness to grow, and a sense of love and respect for others that really does make him someone we would date in a heartbeat.

And while we all know about that scene – we can also look to that moment as further proof that he is capable of true love and commitment. Here is a hero who steps up, does his part to save those he cares about and is willing to make the ultimate sacrifice. And that is why he is near the top of our dateability chart. (His only downside is that he is technically already taken, and well that other thing we try not to discuss either.)
