The fifth episode of The Flash season 7 carried on the show’s tradition of jaw-dropping cliffhangers, but what does it all mean, really?

The Flash season 7 is finally underway. The veteran Arrowverse series has been thrilling its way back onto screens over the past couple of weeks – much to the delight of its fans.

With the season 6 story finally completed, the show now looks ahead to a new beginning. The story originally planned for the beginning of the seventh season is now set in motion as Team Flash’s accidental emittance of all of the Flash Forces into Central City have paved the way for a very intriguing season.

However, the closing moments of this week’s episode once again left viewers in need of some answers.

What does the ending of The Flash season 7, episode 5 really mean?

The return of the original Speed Force – still in the guise of Nora Allen – instantly made it clear to Team Flash that something was very, very wrong in Central City. Not only was the fact that the Speed Force was, well, out of the Speed Force bad, the fact that she (or, uh, it?) was recovering from physical injuries was also frightening considering it’s supposed to be a near-invincible dimension.

Nora Speed Force’s revelation at the end of the episode – in which she confirmed that she was attacked by both Fuerza and Pysche – led to her confirming that both of those characters were like her. This means that, yes, Fuerza is a representation of the Strength Force while Psyche was a representation of the Sage Force.

After Team Flash created a new Speed Force a number of weeks back, they ended up sending out waves of energy into atmosphere in the form of the Flash Forces: Speed, Sage, Still and Strength.

Whether or not Fuerza and Psyche are the actual Forces or just people they created remains to be seen, but it’s clear that the theories are true and that the Forces are making their presence felt in Central City. And to make matters worse for Team Flash, the Still Force is on its way to Central City in next week’s episode of The Flash.

The Flash season 7 airs on The CW on Tuesday nights at 8:00 p.m. ET.
