Superman and Lois has embarked on a lengthy hiatus. But when will the Arrowverse show return to screens?

Superman and Lois started a brand new era for the Arrowverse in February. Kicking off the story of one of The CW’s shared universe of superheroes’ most popular characters, it didn’t delve into the beginnings of the Man of Steel’s story but, instead, opted to tell the one we don’t see all that often.

Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch reprise their roles as Clark Kent/Superman and Lois Lane to perfection, thriving in the expanded roles they first played on Supergirl, but they are joined by an equally impressive ensemble cast. Jordan Elsass and Alex Garfin portray the heroes’ twin sons with maturity and heart, while Inde Navarette, Emmanuelle Chriqui and Erik Davis make the Lang-Cushings so easy to appreciate. And Wolé Parks, Adam Rayner and Dylan Walsh all respectively bring Captain Luthor, Morgan Edge and General Lane to life in the appropriately larger-than-life ways their characters deserve.

Unfortunately, the adventures are on hold for the Man of Steel and the intrepid reporter as the show is taking a midseason hiatus and is off our screens for quite some time.

When does Superman and Lois return?

Superman and Lois returns to The CW on Tuesday, May 18, at 9:00 p.m. ET. The next episode will be season 1, episode 6, titled “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and it will serve as something of a midseason premiere (even though we’re not quite midway through the season yet).

Clark and Lois’ hopes to raise their boys in Smallville will continue to be the overarching story of the season while the sense of family continues to make Superman & Lois the appealing ensemble piece that it is. It will also continue to delve into Captain Luthor’s plan and the motivations behind them.

While it’s off the air, its parent show Supergirl is airing seven brand new episodes from its sixth and final season, so be sure to check it out in the meantime and support the Girl of Steel as we anticipate her cousin’s return to our screens.
