6. Redwing is a bird in the comics

We’ve seen Sam Wilson use Redwing in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and before that. It’s one of the most reliable weapons in his arsenal and the funniest time he used it may have been when he used it against Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War. However, in the comic books, Redwing is a falcon. Not only that, Sam doesn’t consider Redwing his pet. He’s his partner.

People looking on may find that weird, but Sam doesn’t care. He knows how much work Redwing does and he appreciates it. He sends him on recon missions and more. It helps that Sam can communicate with Redwing and other birds. Anthony Mackie talking to birds may not have translated well to the screen had the MCU gone that route, but the truth is that it’s cool in the comics. Very cool in fact.

5. He fought with Captain America during Civil War

When the Superhero Registration act came into play, Sam backed Captain America. That isn’t surprising. When you’re Sam’s friend, he’ll always have your back. When Steve Rogers decided to quit the fight, however, Sam did something unexpected: He signed the Superhero Registration Act.

Sam wasn’t happy about what he did, but it worked for him. He felt like it was the only way he could continue to be a hero. Some people may have called him a sellout, but he was far from it. Because, when unregistered heroes needed him, he made sure to help. He didn’t care what the law said. Saving people always comes first.
