After the appearances of Wakandan warrior Ayo and the Dora Milaje in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, there was speculation that the King of Wakanda would have appeared. That will not be the case.

With the Dora Milaje appearing in the fourth episode of Disney Plus‘ The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, “The Whole World is Watching,” there was an enormous amount of speculation that the Black Panther himself could be making an appearance.

Played by the late, great Chadwick Boseman, King T’Challa has not appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since Avengers: Endgame. The acclaimed performer tragically passed away last year.

Is Black Panther in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier?

Series writer Malcolm Spellman teased a big cameo in the upcoming fifth episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier during a conversation with Rotten Tomatoes, with further details being left unrevealed. Many fans have theorised that the cameo will be from T’Challa, due to the Dora Milaje’s return in the series.

However, longtime Marvel producer Nate Moore quickly debunked the rumours during an interview with Vanity Fair’s Still Watching podcast. He commented:

"“No. I can say. That is not going to happen. I would be honest if it was. Chad’s passing is a whole life thing, and I loved the guy as much as the character. I think we have to be very careful and thoughtful about when he appears, because he meant so much to a lot of people as much as he meant to us. But yeah, we wouldn’t use that as a ‘Come next week; maybe you’ll see Panther!’ We wouldn’t, and he’s not.”"

The explanation from Moore is understandable. With Black Panther 2 and Ryan Coogler’s Wakanda series in the works, Marvel will understandably be taking time to honor T’Challa in a meaningful way that will also honor Chadwick Boseman’s legacy as the Black Panther. They wouldn’t have the chance to do that with a surprise cameo appearance in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

As for who the cameo is, there isn’t much in the way of information as to the character’s identity, but there is speculation that it could be the person behind the Power Broker who has been teased throughout the series.
