The Falcon and The Winter Soldier: 5 best moments from “Truth”
By Liam Clark
4. Zemo provides Bucky with some closure
While many presumed that Baron Zemo was going to be the big bad behind the events of the series, it turns out that Daniel Bruhl’s character was nothing more than a reluctant ally of the titular pair. After his escape at the end of the episode, Zemo did not run from Bucky or try to escape town, indicating that the character may take on more of an anti-hero role as the MCU progresses.
His scene with Bucky and the exchange between the two, even as the Wakandans take Zemo away showcases that the two have developed through their time together. While Zemo is not a good guy, he believes in Bucky and does not want him to shut off his Winter Soldier life permanently. However, he also respects the former Winter Soldier making amends, even taking the liberty of crossing out his name in Bucky’s book instead of trying to escape.
This scene provides Bucky with some closure, as he is able to deal with Zemo and make amends for some of the bad actions he committed, especially when under Zemo’s control. It also sets up the potential for Zemo to appear in future series, as he is taken to the Raft (with the villain potentially joining an MCU version of the Thunderbolts).
