Sharon Carter and the 5 biggest letdowns from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier officially wrapped its first season but, in spite of a strong run, there were some missteps along the way.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has concluded its debut offering. While it’s unclear whether there will be a second season or not, we can take a minute to appreciate the fact that it was another major triumph for Marvel Studios and Disney Plus. Of course, it goes without saying that it was also another major triumph in a long line of triumphs for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The show succeeded in almost all aspects of its premise and it also featured some truly thought-provoking conversations – ones that will no doubt start even more thought-provoking conversations. Moreover, it featured a ton of fulfilling moments that fans will no doubt appreciate for many more years to come – including Sam Wilson’s long-awaited debut as Captain America.
That being said, not all of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was perfect as the series did feature of, well, letdowns. Be it disappointing moments or the failure to explore promised narratives, here are some of the rare areas that the near-perfect Falcon and Winter Soldier struggled in.
5. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’s pacing is a little off
Perhaps it’s the fact that The Falcon and the Winter Soldier came after WandaVision or maybe it’s just the fact that the show is essentially a six-hour movie trying to be a TV series, but the truth is that its pacing was a little off in places.
It’s not a major issue because when you watch it all together, it functions beautifully as a six hour movie, but that doesn’t change the fact that the pacing is a little too back-and-forth. For example, parts of the narrative make the most of the series format, taking its time with some of the emotional arcs that wouldn’t get the time to thrive in a two-hour film, but then it suddenly hits the fast-forward button, taking us into fight after fight or montage after montage with little time to rest or get our heads around what’s happening in between.
Again, not a major issue, but after the exceptional pacing of WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier‘s back and forth presentation was a little jarring to say the least.
