Sharon Carter and the 5 biggest letdowns from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
3. No aftermath for John Walker in the finale
Let’s open this entry by saying how absolutely epic it was seeing John Walker fight for what was right alongside Sam and Bucky in the season finale of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. There was a lot of intrigue about what kind of role he would play in the final episode of the first season and backing up the heroes wasn’t exactly at the top of that list – and that’s why it was a refreshing surprise.
That said, it was rather disappointing that there was no immediate follow-up for his return to the field in his Captain America suit. After all, this man had just been stripped of duty as Cap, dishonorably discharged from service and told to consider himself lucky that he wasn’t convicted for killing an innocent man with the whole world watching him. And yet, in the finale, there was no aftermath for him other than the fact that he became U.S. Agent.
Is he working with the U.S. government now? Is the new team he’s joining the Dark Avengers or the Thunderbolts? Or will he fully turn evil in his next apperance?
Of course, all of this was avoided so that the writers could avoid revealing the intentions of Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine but it did undermine the story a little bit because of how heavily this series relied on aftermath and consequences up until that point.
