The Falcon and the Winter Soldier ended on a memorable note but what does it all really mean?

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier bowed out on a major note. The six-episode Disney Plus series’ finale brought a memorable conclusion to Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes’ current story as they faced off against the Flag-Smashers and John Walker so that they could carry on the legacy of Captain America and protect the world from an army of dangerous Super Soldiers.

However, this is a Marvel Cinematic Universe property, so it was already a given that the show would leave some loose ends behind – loose ends that future properties will undoubtedly wrap up in the future.

What happened in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier finale?

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier delivered on many of its promises as Sam Wilson became Captain America and he and Bucky Barnes (along with a surprise assist from John Walker) took down the Flag-Smashers.

However, before the credits rolled, Karli was killed by Sharon Carter, Bucky crossed off all the names in his book and Sharon Carter got that pardon she was hoping for.

However, while the ending of the episode – which saw Sam and Bucky enjoy some well-earned happiness – was mostly uplifting, one of the positives could turn out to be a huge, huge negative.

What does The Falcon and the Winter Soldier finale mid-credit scene mean?

The post-credit scene in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier‘s finale saw Sharon Carter receive that long overdue and well-deserved pardon. However, when she left the building, she was on the phone to a contact and revealed that their plans could continue to move forward without the Super Soldiers.

Now Sharon has access to the U.S. government intel and weaponry which could make her operations as the Power Broker all the more deadly.

Of course, that means Emily VanCamp will indeed return as Agent Sharon Carter in the future and it could very well be in season 2 of The Falcon and — no, Captain America and the Winter Soldier.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier‘s finale is available now on Disney+ along with the rest of the season.
