Best DC movies and shows on HBO Max: V For Vendetta

It’s only fitting that we end with yet another plot twist with a final exception to our animated list with one of the most underrated DC titles around.

The DCEU has received all kinds of criticisms over the years for a number of things, but the concerns that stick out the most are probably the issues with the story, dialogue, and action sequences. Some of the films get it right, and some miss the bar in some or all of the three categories mentioned.

If fans are looking for a magnificent DC title that excels at all those things and then they should watch the critically acclaimed 2005 dystopian political action thriller V For Vendetta starring Academy Award winner Natalie Portman and award-winning actor Hugo Weaving.

The film takes place in the not too distant future where Britain is run by an oppressive state that one might describe as tyrannical, and on the fifth of November, a masked vigilante named V appears wearing the face of Guy Fawkes and starts wiping out significant members of society. At the same time, he inspires others to rebel, and his plan to overthrow the government is assisted by a young woman named Evey, who is much stronger than she thinks.

Ebert and Roeper gave the film two thumbs up, and it still stands as a top-rated film on many sites, including IMDb. V For Vendetta is an award-winning film that the DCEU wishes it had in its lineup, so definitely check it out on HBO Max.
