The master of fear is coming to haunt Gotham in Titans season 3
By Scott Brown
A new level of fear and dread is coming for the eponymous team in the upcoming Titans season 3.
It has been now revealed who at least one of the new villains will be in Titans season 3 and said villain is the master of fear himself, Scarecrow. Yes, it has been announced that Vincent Kartheiser has been cast as the fear-based antagonist Dr. Jonathan Crane for the upcoming third season of the former DC Universe show.
Kartheiser’s most prominent previous role has been in the AMC series Mad Men. Now he’ll join Brenton Thwaites, Anna Diop, Conor Leslie, Teagan Croft, Ryan Potter, Curran Walters, Chelsea Zhang, Joshua Orpin, Minka Kelly, Alan Ritchson and Damaris Lewis on the streets of Gotham.

The Scarecrow returns to screens in Titans season 3
This will be the latest in a long line of appearances by the Scarecrow as he has appeared in several Batman films, television series, and games throughout the past 30 years. The character’s most prominent appearances have been in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, where he is played by Cillian Murphy, the Arkham series of games, where is voiced by Dino Andrade in Arkham Asylum and John Noble in Arkham Knight, and Batman: The Animated Series, where he is voiced by Henry Polic II and Jeffrey Combs.
More from DC Universe
- New Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom trailer pushes Arthur to his limits
- 7 actors who could replace Ezra Miller as The Flash in the DC Universe
- Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will have a battle pass (and that’s a bad sign)
- Harley Quinn renewed for a fifth season on Max (and it’s well-deserved)
- Batman: All 11 Batgirl actresses ranked from worst to best
The antithesis of Batman, where he makes innocents feel fear instead of criminals, it will be interesting to see how he will be used in season 3 of Titans. After the constant self-doubt that was present in basically every character during the second season of the show, it will be interesting to see if they can do something different than just psychedelic rehashes of the character arcs of the previous season.
With the inclusion of Scarecrow, it really seems that Titans is heading in a much more Bat-centric direction than it had previously already been. At this point, it just feels like a Batman-adjacent show with some Titans characters involved rather than a Titans show with some Batman characters.
