Is Spider-Man: The Animated Series on Disney Plus?
People will be arguing for centuries as to which Spider-Man is the best of all to wear the blue and red fatigues of everyone’s favorite neighborhood wall-crawler. Whether one finds themselves subscribing to the church of Andrew Garfield, Tom Holland, or Tobey Maguire, there is no denying that arguably the greatest adaptation of The Amazing Spider-Man is none other than the 1994 animated series.
The series followed Peter Parker already having his powers and fighting crime in New York City. This version saw a smorgasbord of excellent appearances from Marvel characters, including the X-Men, Punisher, Doctor Strange, Captain America, Daredevil, Blade, The Fantastic Four, and more. It also featured so many great storylines from the comics, including narratives with Venom, the Insidious Six, Dr. Doom, the Red Skull, just to name a few.
The ratings for Spider-Man were considered exceptionally good for an animated series, and the series was highly considered one of the most popular children’s television shows in the US. The show’s writer/producer John Semper JR was awarded the Best Individual Achievement in writing at the 1995 Annie Awards for his work on the episodes entitled “Day of the Chameleon,” and the entire affair was nominated for Outstanding/Animated/Live-Action/Dramatic Youth or Children’s Series/Special at the 1996 image awards.
Fans should binge this classic on Disney Plus, and they will quickly understand why this Marvel Legacy Cartoon is so essential.
