Captain Marvel 2 has become The Marvels as this brand new MCU trailer confirms the title of the hugely anticipated sequel.
With the recent Disney Plus arrivals of WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the excitement for Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is bigger than ever. But it won’t be long until the MCU returns to the big screen either as there is a huge slate of movies on the horizon just waiting to bring Marvel Studios back to the cinemas.
One of those movies is the much anticipated sequel to 2019’s Captain Marvel. Affectionately titled Captain Marvel 2 by fans ever since its confirmation, the film will see Brie Larson’s super-powered Avenger return in a modern-day setting. Other than that (and a few interesting additions to the cast), not much is known about the sequel.
But Marvel know how to excite their fans, and that’s exactly what they have done by releasing a new trailer celebrating the MCU (which just turned 13 on the anniversary of Iron Man‘s release). But it doesn’t just reflect on the past, it celebrates the future. Watch it below.
What is the title of Captain Marvel 2?
Among the many announcements in the Marvel Studios trailer was the confirmation that Captain Marvel 2 would be titled The Marvels. An interesting change of name from the first movie, it’s also an understandable one as Carol Danvers won’t be the only mighty hero leading the film.
The Nia DaCosta-directed movie will also star Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau/Photon/Spectrum and Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel. Parris will be reprising her role from WandaVision while Vellani will be reprising her role from her character’s upcoming self-titled Disney Plus series. Recent set photos gave us our first look at Vellani in costume.
The Marvels release date
Fans won’t have to wait that long for The Marvels to make its presence felt on the silver screen. The film is currently set to be released on November 11, 2022.
