As movies and TV shows are still just getting back on track after the COVID-19 pandemic shut down productions across the globe, we’re anxiously waiting to see what the future looks like for the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. Who will be the next big stars of the franchise beyond the actors who have been already cast? Well, we’ve got some ideas.

It’s been rumored that The Office alum John Krasinski could be taking on the role of Reed Richards, a.k.a. Mister Fantastic, in the announced Fantastic Four reboot for the MCU. And as more time goes by, fans have been wondering what it could look like if Krasinski’s real-life wife, Emily Blunt, co-starred as Sue Storm, otherwise known as the Invisible Woman.

Though these are just dreamcastings for now, many Marvel fans have really gotten behind this idea. We’ve even seen some awesome Fantastic Four fan art, imagining the two stars of A Quiet Place as the iconic superheroes. However, it looks like Krasinski and Blunt may be on different pages when it comes to joining the MCU.

While Krasinski has admitted he would “love” to join the franchise, his wife seemingly wouldn’t be so easy to convince. In a recent interview on The Howard Stern Show, according to ComicBook, the Golden Globe winner all but shut down the possibility.

Will Emily Blunt join the Fantastic Four reboot as Sue Storm?

Seemingly opposite of how Krasinski feels, Blunt shared that superhero movies and TV shows have “inundated” us and she’d only be open to appearing in one if it was something very different. The actress explained:

"“It’s not that it’s beneath me. I love Iron Man and when I got offered Black Widow. I was obsessed with Iron Man. I wanted to work with Robert Downey Jr.—it would’ve been amazing…but I don’t know if superhero movies are for me. They’re not up my alley. I don’t like them. I really don’t. It’s been exhausted. We are inundated—it’s not only all the movies, it’s the endless TV shows as well. It’s not to say that I’d never want to play one, it would just have to be something so cool and like a really cool character, and then I’d be interested.”"

When addressing the rumors of her and Krasinski joining the MCU, Blunt was clear in saying that it’s just the fans rallying around the potential castings and nothing real. “That is fan-casting,” she stated. “No one has received a phone call. That’s just people saying, ‘Wouldn’t that be great?’”

So, it’s safe to say Emily Blunt will likely not be starring as Sue Storm in the Fantastic Four reboot. That is, unless the MCU has something unique up their sleeves when revisiting these characters. As for Krasinski? We’re still holding out hope he could play Reed Richards at some point in the future. And if Blunt was on board, too? Well, of course, that would just be awesome.

We’ll keep you updated on any other rumors about the Fantastic Four reboot and eventually the official castings!
