We are just two episodes away from the series finale of Black Lightning. Here’s what happened and what you can expect in episode 12 of the Arrowverse show’s final season.

Black Lightning season 4 will forever be the year of Tobias. He showed everyone who he is and what he’s truly capable of doing. He set out with a goal to destroy the Pierce family’s reputation, become Mayor of Freeland, and control the metahumans in his city. He accomplished all of that and looked good doing it. Despite his dominance, the latest episode showed that things are looking up for the heroes.

The biggest win came courtesy of Khalil and Painkiller. Khalil set out to get proof that Tobias was using Looker to control people in power – a mission in which he was truly challenged for the first time. If you watched season 2 of Black Lightning, then you know Looker isn’t someone to take lightly. Too bad she underestimated Khalil.

Looker found out that going into Khalil’s mind was a mistake because he had practice keeping control of himself. It also helped that Khalil had Painkiller to assist in the fight. In the end, Khalil gave Looker two options: Die from the poison he put in her or tell the authorities what Tobias is up to. She chose the latter.

What to look out for in the next episode of Black Lightning

As great as Khalil’s victory was, there are still other issues to address in the next couple of episodes. First, Gambi and Lauren Caruso found that the energy used to help remove the metas’ powers runs all through Freeland. As of now, that’s stopping them from tracking the machine-blocking powers.

The second issue is something that people may not have noticed. Grace and Anissa are at odds with what to do if their powers come back while Grace is enjoying not being a meta because she thinks this is her chance at a normal life – something that Anissa wholeheartedly disagrees with. What happens next may not be decided until the series finale. That’s if Grace doesn’t die before that.

Let’s not forget that Jennifer just watched someone she liked die right in front of her. This isn’t the first time this has happened either as she watched Khalil die in season 2. Tobias was lucky she didn’t kill him for that. We’ll have to see if she goes after him or the guy who took the shot (Red). With her powers cutting in and out, that may not be a good idea, especially since Tobias knows J.J. is Jennifer.

The final, and possibly most exciting part, is a confrontation between Ishmael and Khalil/Painkiller. Tobias knows that Khalil is in town and working against him. To stop Khalil, he has sent Ishmael after him. This has the potential to be the best fight of the series.
