Greatest comic book characters – 74. Juggernaut

First comic book appearance: The X-Men No. 12

Cain Marko started off as just another big and seemingly unstoppable villain. Thankfully, that all changed. The writers at Marvel Comics added layers to his personality. It started with a Deadpool mini-series. We find out that he’s willing to risk his life and freedom to help his best friend Black Tom. Later, he becomes a big brother to a kid named Sammy. A relationship that molded him into the person we see today.

In the recent Juggernaut mini-series, he defeated the being that gave him his powers (Cyttorak) and cut him off from the world, making it harder for people to become victims like he was. This begins his newest goal to help former villains make up for the bad things they’ve done. Something that should be shown more in Marvel Comics.

Greatest comic book characters – 73. Darkseid

First comic book appearance: Forever People No. 1 (Full appearance)

The ruler of Apokolips has defeated more than his share of heroes. He is one of the new gods with the power to take a punch from Superman at full strength. His Intelligence, confidence, and the way he talks has made him loved by fans. They know when he shows up, things are about to get serious. He was one of the many reasons people wanted the Snyder Cut of Justice League.

Don’t let his abysmal showing in Justice League fool you. Darkseid could have taken on multiple beings by himself. His Omega Beams can turn people into nothing, he’s a proficient planner, and has a ruthlessness that would appall even Doctor Doom. All of that makes him one of the most dangerous people in any fictional genre.
