Greatest comic book characters – 72. Poison Ivy

First comic book appearance: Batman No. 181

Calling Poison Ivy evil is false. Are her methods extreme? Depends on who you ask. She’s doing what she can to protect the plant life in this world. Something that every living being needs to survive. Can we truly fault her for that? This writer believes no. In the end, she’s saving us all.

Ivy has had a makeover recently. Her relationship with Harley Quinn, becoming less of a villain, and seeing her work on herself gave her more depth. Evolution that will keep her in the hearts and minds of fans for years to come. The Harley Quinn show will help this as well. It was an incredible interpretation of her. So much so that she could be changed to that in the pages of DC Comics.

Greatest comic book characters – 71. Namor

First comic book appearance: Marvel Comics No. 1

Call Namor king or prince, you just better respect him. Namor has been beating people down and reminding everyone he’s superior since World War 2. Defeating Black Panther, Wakanda, and being able to go toe to toe with The Hulk and Thor. That’s a part of him that’s never changed. What has changed is his approach. That part flip flops as the years go by.

Sometimes he’s a fighter of all people. Defending the surface world and the people of Atlantis at once. Other times he hates the surface world and wants it to drown. He’s even been a member of the X-Men and possessed by the Phoenix Force (Avengers VS X-Men).
