Greatest comic book characters – 88. Doctor Aphra

First comic book appearance: Darth Vader No. 3 (2015)

We all know that the Star Wars franchise is among the most recognizable in pop culture. You don’t need to know the movies to know their best characters. While Han Solo, Darth Vader and Princess Leia are among the best, Doctor Aphra could be the most interesting.

Doctor Aphra is an explorer, bounty hunter, genius scientist and strategist, and all-around bad woman. She has an attitude you can’t help to love as well. She always has something smart to say and gets out of the stickiest of situations. If there’s one Star Wars comic that’s a must-read, it’s Doctor Aphra.

Greatest comic book characters – 87. Aquaman

First comic book appearance: More Fun Comics No. 73

There’s something about DC Comics underwater characters that makes people underestimate them. Aquaman has all the strength, invulnerability, and personality to be one of the greats. For some reason, people hear that he talks to fish and that makes him weak. We’ve even seen the Justice League talk down to him until he unleashes his power. Forgetting that this includes sharks, whales, squids, and the mythological Kraken.

Time and again, Aquaman has helped save the world. Recently, in Justice League: The Doom War, the heroes wouldn’t have stood a chance without him. That’s only one instance. A quick search will show you the dozens of times Arthur Curry has helped protect the world.
