9-1-1: Lone Star season 2 bows out with its season finale but when can we expect it to return from its hiatus for season 3?

9-1-1: Lone Star has been one of this year’s most entertaining TV shows. A thrilling sophomore outing that built upon the stories told in the first season last year, the second season explored many more of its characters in new and intriguing ways. It also introduced a new leading lady as Gina Torres debuted as Captain Tommy Vega following the departure of Liv Tyler as Michelle Blake.

The second season has come to an end with its season 2 finale but the good news is that the 126 will return for a third season. Fox officially announced that both it and 9-1-1 had been renewed for new seasons at the network’s upfronts.

However, when can we expect the show to make its triumphant return to screens?

When does 9-1-1: Lone Star season 3 come out?

9-1-1: Lone Star season 3 is expected to premiere some time in the first quarter of 2022, with the most likely option for its return being in January 2022. Fox announced during its upfronts that, while both it and its parent show had been renewed for new seasons, Lone Star would be held until midseason.

More from TV

This is actually in-line with 9-1-1: Lone Star‘s run thus far, as the show acted as a midseason replacement for 9-1-1 in January 2019 when it first premiered. Its second season also premiered in January 2020 (though it was joined by its parent series because of the unusual circumstances involving the TV schedule in Fall 2019).

With that in mind, prepare to see Captain Owen Strand (Rob Lowe), Captain Tommy Vega (Gina Torres), TK Strand (Ronen Rubinstein), Judd Ryder (Jim Parrack), Grace Ryder (Sierra McClain), Marjan Marwani (Natacha Karam), Paul Strickland (Brian Michael Smith), Officer Carlos Reyes (Rafael Silva) and Mateo Chavez (Julian Works) return for new adventures at the beginning of next year.
