9-1-1: Lone Star season 3 is officially happening and fans couldn’t be more excited. Here’s everything you need to know about it.

9-1-1: Lone Star has become a staple of network television. The Ryan Murphy-produced Fox television procedural is a spin-off of 9-1-1 and it first aired on screens back in January 2020. After becoming an overnight success (its series premiere was one of the most-watched network TV broadcasts of that season), it returned for a longer second season earlier this year.

Now, it has been revealed that the show will return for a third season. Highly speculated for some time now, the news was confirmed at the Fox upfronts as it, parent show 9-1-1 and The Resident were all renewed for new seasons.

Below, you’ll find all the up-to-date information you need about 9-1-1: Lone Star season 3, its premiere on Fox, its cast, any trailers and more.

9-1-1: Lone Star season 3 release date

While an exact premiere date for 9-1-1: Lone Star‘s third season has yet to be confirmed, the show will return midseason. That means that it won’t be airing in fall 2021 and will probably return in January 2022.

That might seem like a long way off but it’s actually pretty normal, given that the show has aired both of its previous seasons in the midseason slot (though the vast majority of scripted TV shows did the same this year).

9-1-1: Lone Star season 3 cast

Although nothing has been confirmed yet, all of the main cast of 9-1-1: Lone Star is expected to return for season 3. That means we should see Rob Lowe return as Captain Owen Strand, Gina Torres as Captain Tommy Vega, Ronen Rubinstein as T.K. Strand, Sierra McClain as Grace Ryder, Jim Parrack as Judd Ryder, Natacha Karam as Marjan Marwani, Brian Michael Smith as Paul Strickland, Rafael Silva as Carlos Reyes and Julian Works as Mateo Chavez.

It’s unknown if Liv Tyler will return to reprise her role from season 1 as Captain Michelle Blake.

9-1-1: Lone Star season 3 trailer

As 9-1-1: Lone Star has just been renewed, the show has yet to commence filming for its third season. That means that it will be some time until Fox unveils a full trailer for season 3 simply because there is no new footage to show in one. However, the network did release a brief teaser for the next season. Watch it below:

Be sure to check back in the future for the first full trailer of 9-1-1: Lone Star season 3. It’s not yet known when it will hit the internet but don’t be surprised if Fox releases a first look in the final quarter of the year.

What is 9-1-1: Lone Star season 3 about?

It’s not yet known what season 3 of Lone Star will be about. In fact, star Ronen Rubinstein confirmed in a celebratory post on his Instagram account that he doesn’t even know what will happen in the next installment.

One of the main reasons for that is simply down to the fact that the second season hasn’t finished airing on our TV screens yet. However, we can prepare ourselves for a another crossover between it and 9-1-1 as the two shows will cross paths again next season.
