Superman and Lois’ latest episode was yet another shocking hour of television. What does it all mean for the show going forward?

Superman and Lois hasn’t been shy on the shocks as of late. The Arrowverse series is only just eight episodes into its run (which we now know will consist of at least two seasons) and it has already produced a number of genuinely awe-inspiring moments. Most of those moments come in the closing moments of each episode and this week’s installment was no different.

While “Holding The Wrench” was a more moving episode that really delved into the mysteries behind some of the major characters, it did end with John Henry Irons leaving Smallville behind after forming something of an uneasy truce with Lois and Superman.

With that in mind, fans are curious as to whether we have seen the last of the character formerly known as The Stranger and Captain Luthor.

Is John Henry Irons coming back to Superman and Lois?

While John Henry Irons did follow through on what he said he was going to do by leaving town in his RV, it’s unlikely that the character will remain off screens for long. For starters, Wolé Parks is a series regular so, considering that we still have just under half of the season left, it’s unlikely that he’ll be gone for long.

From a story standpoint, however, it seems that Superman & Lois has already set up Steel’s return. Remember, Irons warned about an army of evil Kryptonians rising to take down mankind because that’s exactly what happened on his earth. While he might have been misguided in his belief that Earth-Prime’s Superman would turn on humanity, it seems that he was right about that aforementioned war because, as the ending of the episode revealed, Clark believes that Morgan Edge is responsible for placing Kryptonians’ consciousness into human bodies.

With that, Superman and Irons’ conversation about the potential war before the latter’s departure does seem like it’s setting up Steel’s return – so don’t be surprised if he and the Man of Steel team up in the finale to take on the army of Kryptonians that Edge creates.
