Carlos Valdes will be exiting The Flash season 7 as a series regular but not before his character, Cisco Ramon, experiences a playful departure.

When news broke of Carlos Valdes’ departure from The Flash as a series regular, there was something of a divided response. Not the first time Valdes’ future on the show had been discussed, some had been speculating that he would be leaving the show as far back as the fifth season. Others, however, didn’t see Cisco’s midseason exit coming at all.

Whatever side of that fence you found yourself on, it soon became clear that The Flash would never be the same. Not only would Valdes be leaving but he would be joined by Tom Cavanagh – who exited the show as a series regular after the seventh season’s first three episodes.

With his long-time screen companion already gone (for now), all eyes turn to Cisco as we prepare for the beloved hero formerly known as Vibe’s departure from the show.

Cisco will have a “low-stakes” exit on The Flash season 7

The Flash has seen its share of emotional and traumatic exits throughout its seven-year run but it seems that Cisco Ramon will not be adding that name to his list. During a recent interview with TVLine, Carlos Valdes confirmed that the character would have a playful, “low-stakes” exit.

Regarding the nature of his exit, he revealed that he is happy with how Cisco bows out, adding:

"“Leaving a show after years of working on it can be such an emotionally complex event, so to get the chance to be irreverent and kind of throw caution out the window and just play, just be silly, that ended up being a very cathartic experience for me “"

Though we don’t quite know what kind of exit the show has in mind for him yet, you can rest assured that “silly” is an ambitious term for The Flasha show in which the possibilities are essentially limitless. And Valdes feels that this is the right choice, grateful that the writers allowed Cisco to leave with “a very silly, very goofy, low-stakes departure”.

Cisco Ramon has always been at the heart of The Flash, providing the light whenever there was too much dark. It’s fitting that he gets to exit on what sounds like a pretty light-hearted note.

The Flash season 7 returns to The CW next Tuesday, June 8, with its twelfth episode, “Good-Bye Vibrations” as Cisco bids farewell to Central City and all of Team Flash.
