Is Unbreakable a good movie?

On the flip side of Glass we have Unbreakable. If you want a fresh take on the classic superhero narrative, then you need Unbreakable in your life.

Not only do we get a story that features two sides of the same coin, but we get to witness Samuel L. Jackson in the role of a villain – far removed from his turn in the MCU. And then we have Bruce Willis in a role that doesn’t stick out as him being a hero, but as things progress we see the truth, and how he really is the hero of a story he never even knew he was a part of.

From the talent in this movie to the storyline itself, Unbreakable is a superhero movie that takes the standard narrative and tosses it off a cliff. This is not the typical hero saving the day or even the hearo having a clue that he is the hero of the story. And it is that bit of freshness that makes this a great watch all around.

Where M. Night Shyamalan went wrong in Glass, he got it all right in Unbreakable. He gave us twists and turns we never saw coming, and we get a superhero who almost doesn’t even qualify for the title. In fact, if it weren’t for how villainous our villain is, we might have had to choose a completely different movie for this spot on the list.

If you haven’t seen Unbreakable yet, do it! And then make sure you watch the complete shift in Samuel L. Jackson as he enters the MCU and proves just how versatile he is as an actor.
