Is Suicide Squad worth watching?

While I am a fan of the DCEU, I can admit that it has its flaws. And even though I actually enjoyed the Suicide Squad movie, it is really not a movie I recommend to anyone or even go back and watch.

The problem with this movie is twofold. First, it spends too long trying to figure out what it wants to be and not enough time on character building. And yet, on the flip side of that, we have a movie that also spends too much time looking at these brief moments in our character’s lives and not finding ways to bring everyone together as a team. It’s a weird mix of not enough character building and not enough team building.

However, the second big issue is the storyline itself. We are talking about gods with plans for world domination and instead of giving them the spotlight they deserve, it feels like everything is rushed and thrown together so that we get an end to the story.

If we had met more of these characters before they got together as a team maybe things would have been different. But alas, we didn’t and here we are.

As an added bonus point to why you shouldn’t bother watching this movie, there is also the fact that even the DCEU seems to be retconning the film in order to bring us a new take on the Suicide Squad. While some of our favorite characters will be returning, not everyone is and they even had to get a new actor or two to step in. So really, let’s just move on from here and see what happens next.
