Is Black Panther worth watching?

If you are a fan of the MCU, then you probably already love Black Panther. And if you aren’t an MCU fan, well you probably still love Black Panther. Honestly, this is almost a gimme when it comes to the best superhero movies.

Not only do we get Chadwick Boseman in the titular role, but we get an entire cast of brilliant characters, with actors and actresses who are each brilliant in those roles (the ladies could have easily stolen the show if it weren’t for the sheer brilliance of Boseman and Michael B. Jordan playing off of each other). In fact, of all the MCU movies this might be the very best in terms of giving us a cast of well-developed characters. Even the side characters feel central to the story, well-developed, and like they add to the overall storytelling.

The entire concept of this movie works and the fact that it also gives us a number of central themes without detracting from the plot is brilliant filmmaking.  What I mean by this is that we don’t lose anything from the over-arching storyline when we take into account all of the lessons and look at themes like racism and identity that are woven into the fabric of this movie.

Beyond all of that, this is an action-packed superhero movie with stunning visuals and a villain who we actually understand and in some cases can agree with. And that is what brings us back for more
