Is Ant-Man a good movie?

If you want more humor in your superhero movies, then the answer might just be Ant-Man. While he may be the smallest superhero in the MCU, he is also one of the more down-to-Earth heroes.

Not only is he a father, but he is a flawed man. There are things about Scott Lang that might make you think he isn’t the right fit for the role of a superhero, and yet when it comes right down to it, he is willing to do whatever it takes to save the day.

The fact that he does that repeatedly – whether we are talking about his solo movie, the sequel with the Wasp, or as a part of the greater MCU – is proof that as far as heroes go, Ant-Man is in a class of his own.

For the most part, Ant-Man is as much about the road to becoming a superhero as it is about just being a good person and father. There are moments in this movie where you can forget that this is an MCU movie and just appreciate it for what it is – a chance to see the birth of a hero after a life that seems as far removed from a hero as any other.

Beyond the fact that Paul Rudd is Ant-Man, and he is brilliant in almost everything he is in, this movie is just so fun and funny. It is a bit of brightness in a genre that sometimes forgets to laugh at itself. This is a comic book adaptation that works and makes you want to keep coming back for more. And that alone makes it one to watch.

Verdict: Watch
