Is Captain America: The First Avenger worth watching?

While Iron Man was the movie that really kicked off the MCU, it is Captain America: The First Avenger that really made it all make sense. After all, it was the first real clue as to the direction this cinematic universe was heading. (It’s right there in the title.)

Even if this first Captain America outing wasn’t a sign of things to come, it was still a fabulous take on a superhero in terms of seeing the sacrifices made and just how far someone is willing to go for the good of others.

There is a lot of real storyline in this movie and moments that have stood the test of both time and humor. For many of us, we are still quoting the movie and looking back at it as a touchstone for current projects and adventures.

With Captain America, we were introduced to characters who are still doing their part to be better and save the world. In fact, without this movie, we wouldn’t have the magic that is The Falcon and the Winter Soldier or even all of these Avengers movies.

But really, it is the fact that we are getting a solid storyline and plot to build our characters from, and even this entire cinematic universe, that makes this movie a joy to watch. It is action and adventure. It is lighthearted when it needs to be. And it is serious and emotional in the moments we expect. This movie has it all and sometimes it simply steals the limelight of what the early days of the MCU were.

Verdict: Watch
