Is Wonder Woman starring Gal Gadot good?
When it comes to a brilliant superhero movie with a female lead, it is hard to say no to Wonder Woman. While you might say there were some flaws in the film, you have to admit this was still an exceptional movie.
Not only do we get to learn more about who Wonder Woman/Diana Prince is and where she came from, but we actually watch her grow from a woman who wants to see the world and help as many people as she can, to one who understands that she can’t always be the hero.
We see her wide-eyed innocence shattered and we watch as she makes important connections with people she never would have met on the island of Themyscira. We see the first bloom of possible love in her life and of course, we watch her lose people she cares for deeply.
Much of her growth as a person and a superhero comes from the fact that she sees firsthand how cruel and selfish people can be, as well as how selfless and kind they can be. There is something to be said for a movie that can show both sides of the same coin and leave it up in the air as to which side of the coin one will truly remember.
As a hero, Diana doesn’t need to be saved as much as she understands the value of accepting help when it is needed. And while she is able to save the day in the end, it is not without immense sacrifice.
Wonder Woman is another superhero movie that is beyond brilliant and well made. It was crafted as almost a love letter to this character and it succeeds in ways that are hard to quantify.
