Is Hellboy worth watching?

Want something unusual for your superhero watch party? Then you may want to give Hellboy a watch (or two).

While my favorite Hellboy movies are the ones that star Ron Perlman as our hero, the movie starring David Harbour is not one to scoff at either. Honestly, these movies are fascinating for a lot of reasons. The thing about these comics and these movies is that they really are a deep dive into how we treat people who are different and how we judge others based on our personal perceptions.

And sure you can easily argue that Hellboy shouldn’t fall under the superhero category, but he is certainly more of a hero than an antihero. The fact that he goes against what people believe his nature to be in order to save the world is enough proof for me that he is in fact a superhero.

The joy of these movies is in the fact that there is everything we love in a superhero comic. We have conflict, drama, humor, and a hero who must come up against their nemesis more than once. What more can you ask for in a superhero movie than that?

Now if we could just get more of these movies, we might be able to prove definitively that yes these are superhero movies that deserve to be watched (often and on repeat).
