Loki: 5 burning questions for Episode 4
By Mark Lynch
2. Did Sylvie’s mother’s death cause her mission?
As this writer mentioned earlier, we’re likely going to learn why she doesn’t want to be called Loki in the upcoming episodes. Perhaps that could be tied to the death of her mother. Sylvie didn’t mention how her mother died for no reason. And it wasn’t just because she was talking to her counterpart; it’s doubtful that she cares enough about their dynamic enough to be that honest (not without a purpose anyway). Most likely because that name is directly tied to another God of Mischief Variant and the TVA.
There’s a reason for her vendetta. Sylvie doesn’t seem to be doing this for the sake of mischief. This seems like a personal vendetta. There’s a reason she knows so much about the TVA, Timekeepers, why she’s carefully planned her assault and why it’s all tied into the name she doesn’t want to be called. Maybe the Marvel Cinematic Universe Loki isn’t the first one they’ve recruited.
1. What else do and don’t they share?
Loki and Sylvie bonded while they were on the train. Among the things they discussed, they found common ground in the fact that they had both been involved with both men and women and their love of their mothers. They also have their differences. For instance, Loki gleefully does magic while Sylvie doesn’t seem to enjoy magic that much (except for her Jedi Mind Trick). It makes you wonder where else they differ.
At some point in the next episode, we’ll probably learn more about Sylvie and how she is and isn’t like the God of Mischief from the MCU.
