Loki’s third episode ended on the show’s most jaw-dropping note yet but what does it mean for the characters going forward?

Loki is no stranger to shocking people. The Disney Plus series had only produced two episodes until now and it still managed to have the whole world talking about it within a matter of hours. And, when you think about it, we shouldn’t be surprised considering that the God of Mischief himself loves to shock people.

But none of what the show has produced thus far really hit the heights of the events that unfolded in the third episode and the way that things ultimately turned out left viewers wondering what would happen with the show moving forward, especially now that it has reached its halfway point.

What happened in Loki episode 3?

The third episode of Loki saw the God of Mischief and the Variant known as Sylvie arrive in Lamentis in 2077. With a moon about to collapse into the planet itself, the enemies had to become allies very quickly (though they made it anything but quick) as they tried to figure out a way off the planet in the 12 hours before it was destroyed.

They were finally able to put their differences aside long enough to come up with a remotely feasible plan but that wasn’t enough as the arc – which they were hoping to use to either recharge the device that would allow them to time-jump or to travel to safety – was destroyed by a piece of the degrading moon, leaving them stranded on the doomed planet.

What does the ending of Loki episode 3 really mean?

Loki and Sylvie are now trapped on Lamentis with seemingly no hope of escape. With less than 12 hours until the planet’s destruction, all they can do is wait for it to be destroyed.

Of course, we know that things can’t exactly go down like that (otherwise there wouldn’t be any need for the next three episodes) but it does leave us all wondering how the pair are going to make their great escape.

Perhaps the TVA will manage to track them down before it’s too late or maybe they will come up with another solution on their own. They have, after all, proven to be quite the formidable team.

Whatever happens, it isn’t over for Loki and Sylvie just yet.

Loki adds new episodes to Disney+ every Wednesday for the next three weeks.
