Batwoman season 2 wrapped up its storyline with a game-changing finale that saw the arrival of a new hero in Gotham City.

Batwoman season 2 really took the DC Comics series to new heights. The first of The CW’s original shows to return for a new season after last year’s production shutdown, it introduced fans to a new storyline, new villain and, most important of all, a new Batwoman.

Javicia Leslie took over the role as the Scarlet Knight from Ruby Rose, playing a new character as Ryan Wilder’s discovery of the Batsuit allowed her to step up as the city’s new savior. And that journey put her on a collision course with Safiyah and Black Mask, culminating in a season finale that saw the latter unleash chaos on the streets of Gotham City.

With Kate Kane still convinced that she is Circe Sionis, the Batsuit is no more. But that didn’t stop Ryan, Team Bat and even Alice from bringing the fight to Black Mask. However, they received a helping hand from a new hero.

The season finale, titled “Power”, saw Luke Fox take the next step in his heroic journey. Discovering the new robotic Batsuit, he transforms into Batwing as he goes into the field with Ryan in order to save Gotham from Black Mask’s reign of terror.

This comes after Luke spent a portion of the season figuring out his place in not just Team Bat but in life itself. After being wrongfully shot by Russel Tavaroff, he very nearly died. However, the Desert Rose saved his life – something he didn’t know how to feel about after almost reuniting with his father in the afterlife.

Now Luke has reconnected with his father through Batwing, he will no doubt become a force-to-be-reckoned with in the fight for good on the streets of Gotham going forward.

It’s safe to say that this official debut of the hero in the Arrowverse will go down well with fans of the character.
