Batwoman season 2 came to an explosive end with a jaw-dropping season finale. But is this legendary Batman villain really season 3’s main villain?

Batwoman season 2 has gripped viewers since the show’s return in January. Back with a bang, it introduced us to a new Scarlet Knight, a new major villain and a new storyline that promised to reinvent the show.

All of the above was accomplished pretty early on but that didn’t stop the show from ramping up the story with intriguing twists and turns that fans didn’t see coming. And it all built to an incredible season finale that brought old stories to a close and kicked off some brand new ones, paving the way for what looks like a major third season.

Is Kate Kane leaving Batwoman?

The finale was built around stopping Black Mask’s reign of terror on the city. However, that also went hand-in-hand with saving Kate Kane – who still thought she was Roman Sionis’ daughter Circe. The Bat team eventually accomplished both of those things but it was Alice who was the real hero as she managed to subdue Roman and help Kate’s memories come back to her.

In the end, however, when Kate returned, she decided that it was time to leave Gotham City, officially giving the mantle of Batwoman to Ryan Wilder and venturing off to find Bruce Wayne a.k.a. Batman.

Whether we have seen the last of her remains to be seen but it does seem like Kate is gone for now because showrunner Caroline Dries confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that they’ve written her off for now. But with Alice behind bars and Kate on the road, there are still a lot of loose ends so you would think that a reunion between the pair is inevitable.

Let’s just hope that both Rachel Skarsten and Wallis Day will return because they are absolutely electric together.

Are Poison Ivy and The Penguin coming to Batwoman season 3?

The final scene of the finale featured the bag of goodies from Batman’s Rogues Gallery of villains floating in Gotham River (after Circe/Kate had relinquished them when she fell with Alice). Among them were the Mad Hatter’s hat, The Penguin’s umbrella and vines from Poison Ivy.

While the first two items remained in the water, however, the vines began to grow. And grow. And grow.

And it doesn’t take a major Batman fan to know that this very much implies that Poison Ivy will be involved in Batwoman season 3.

We know she helped Safiyah create the Desert Rose, so we know she exists in the Arrowverse. The question is: Will The Penguin and the Mad Hatter be joining her?
