Best comic book movie moments: 82. Ninja turtles toy store scene

Comic book movie: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze

The first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie was a financial success and boosted the already high popularity of the franchise. The only thing left to do was continue that momentum. They did so by making the movie more lighthearted and more digestible for kids. Both in terms of lighting and the mood. They did so by having the turtles break up a robbery at a mall.

The opening fight scene showed that this wasn’t going to be as dark. They didn’t use their weapons much here. They utilized everything from the toys to sausage links. Or, as Michelangelo called them, combat cold cuts. A great way to start this new (and to some, improved) movie.

Best comic book movie moments: 81. Three bucks off

Comic book movie: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Donatello skates over to his brother Michelangelo to have a conversation about Splinter saying that one day he may not be around. While he’s baring his soul to him, all his brother can think about is the pizza. After Donatello finishes, Michelangelo takes a second and says, “Times up. Three bucks off.” Referring to the pizza delivery guy who was late delivering their dinner.

The original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was full of hilarious and memorable scenes. This one had foreshadowing and a joke. Eventually, they would have to go without Splinter. A move that made them grow as fighters and a family. And, as serious as that scene was, it’s made better by Mikey’s comment.
