Best comic book movie moments: 36. Washing his tights
Comic book movie: Batman (1989)

You take Jack Nicholson’s Joker, add a cup of Prince music, and put it in the oven. What you get is a funny and well-done parade of carnage and hilarity that ends with Joker shooting his right-hand man. To this day, it’s befuddling why Gotham City citizens went to this parade. Joker tried to kill them 24 hours ago. They’re lucky Batman took time from washing his tights to take Joker’s balloons.
Best comic book movie moments: 35. Fair trade
Comic book movie: Sin City
It was John Hartigan’s last day on the job and he had an important job. Save a young girl from being assaulted. The criminal he’s after was the son of a corrupt politician. Jack didn’t care. He was a good man with a job to do. In the end, he saves Nancy and makes certain that Rourke Jr. could never assault someone again. The price was getting shot. The last thing we see is Nancy getting close to her protector as Hartigan says, “An old man dies. A young woman lives. A fair trade.” It was a sad scene that sets the tone for the next part of the film.
