Best comic book movie moments: 10. Kneel before Zod
Comic book movie: Superman II
General Zod asks to speak to the person in charge. Not demanded. He calmly asks. He knows that no one in this room (the Oval Office) can defy him. Neither he or his fellow Kryptonians are intimidated. He tells the person in charge to bow before him. Someone steps up and kneels. Zod says, “No one who leads so many could possibly kneel so quickly.” It was an amazing observation.
Terence Stamp (Zod) continued to calmly berate everyone in the oval office. He let them know he was now in charge. It was perfectly capped off when the President steps up and kneels. As the President is on his knees he says, “Oh my god” to which Zod corrects him and says, “Zod” because he is their new god.
Best comic book movie moments: 9. Ideas are bulletproof
Comic book movie: V for Vendetta
Mr. Creedy was the last person on V’s kill list. Creedy, in all of his arrogance, thought his guards could protect him. V tells him, “…what you have are bullets and the hope that when your guns are empty I’m no longer be standing because if I am you’ll all be dead before you’ve reloaded.” V was 100% correct. After Creedy’s guards unloaded all of their bullets, V was still alive. V killed them all in a smooth and fast flurry of assaults with his blades.
Creedy stood in disbelief. There was no way that V should be alive. Then, V tells Creedy the reason he’s still standing. “Beneath this mask, there is more than flesh. Beneath this mask, there is an idea, Mr. Creedy, and ideas are bulletproof.” Not only was this a bad-@$$ way to end a scene, but it was also a deep message that everyone with a dream should hear.
