Best comic book movie moments: 6. Miles Morales becomes Spider-Man
Comic book movie: Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
This was the perfect merging of music, animation, and emotion. First, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse looked amazing from start to finish. Miles becoming Spider-Man with help from Aunt May was well done. She knew he’d be back and was waiting. Seeing her patiently wait made this writer smile ear to ear.
The view of Miles falling from the sky and eventually getting the courage to web-swing was outstanding. Then, they tied it all up with Blackway & Black Caviar – “What’s Up Danger.” This is going to show why animated comic book movies can be just as emotional and beautiful as live-action.
Best comic book movie moments: 5. Bury me in the ocean
Comic book movie: Black Panther
We’ve never seen a moment like this in comic books. This wasn’t just two rivals talking as the antagonist dies. This was deeper. Killmonger was willing to die for what he believed in. Some people say it and don’t mean it. When T’Challa tells him that his wounds can be healed, Killmonger denies the help in the most poetic way possible. “Bury me in the ocean, with my ancestors that jumped from the ships, because they knew death was better than bondage.” He let T’Challa know exactly what he felt about his offer. To him, it was a hollow offer that would’ve been worse than death.
