Best comic book movie moments: 4. I am Iron Man
Comic book movie: Avengers: Endgame
Tony Stark saved the universe, but there was a cost. His body wasn’t built to handle the energy from the Infinity Stones. Using them destroyed the Hulk’s arm. There was no way Tony’s body could survive. Nevertheless, he knew the risk and died saving every world in the universe.
When Tony grabbed the stones everyone knew it was his time. The scene itself was heartbreaking. Seeing Peter Parker cry and plead with whoever’s listening to save his mentor hurt. Pepper telling her husband he can rest helped ease the emotions. He’d been fighting for so long, so it was just his time. Seeing the light in his arc reactor slowly fade was a nice touch.
Best comic book movie moments: 3. You may call me V
Comic book movie: V for Vendetta
V came across Evey Hammond who was about to be assaulted by law enforcement. V then proceeds to beat these men and show them the meaning of, “Spare the rod.” Evey asks who she was and that’s where the fun starts.
V says, “Who is but the form following the function of what, and what I am is a man in a mask.” He then goes into a flow of alliteration with the letter V that hasn’t been matched. Afterward, he asked what the woman’s name was. She says Evey. He seems pleased by that. When Evey asks why he says, “I, like God, do not play with dice and do not believe in coincidence.” Hugo Weaving puts on an acting clinic. He showed so much emotion and range without ever showing his face.
