Loki episode 4 explained: Who REALLY created the TVA?
Has the person responsible for the creation of the TVA in Loki been hiding in plain sight all along?
Aside from its understandably exposition-filled premiere, Loki hasn’t exactly taken things slow. Now just over its halfway point, it certainly isn’t going to start now.
The fourth episode recently made its presence felt on Disney Plus and it has the internet in a meltdown after producing what is probably its finest hour yet.
Among all the shocks and that bizarre post-credits sequence, however, was the confirmation that Loki and Sylvie were right about the Time Keepers all along (or so it would seem) and that they were not the ones controlling the Time Variance Authority after all. The pair managed to uncover the fact that the three lizard-like beings were simply androids – a front for the real mastermind.
So what does that mean for the TVA and the Variants and just who is really pulling the strings?
Is Miss Minutes controlling the TVA on Loki?
One of the more interesting fan theories suggests that Miss Minutes might be the one who is really in charge of the timeline. Ever since the technology-defying animated clock (voiced by Tara Strong) made her presence felt on the show, fans have been theorizing about the greater role she might play.
Strong confirmed that we’ll see more of her in the future as there is “much more to be revealed”. Now while that’s certainly not a confirmation that she’s the mastermind behind the TVA, it does feed into the notion that the mysterious entity that has fans a little suspicious could play a role in what will probably be the show’s two most pivotal episodes.
Is Kang the Conqueror controlling the TVA?
Another theory that has had fans talking is the possibility that Kang the Conqueror is the one controlling the TVA. If this is true, it could have major implications on the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And as we know that Loki‘s time-travel shenanigans could end up doing just that, it makes the theory all the more likely.
Kang is a villain with Thanos-level potential and could serve as the next major threat of the MCU. We know for a fact that he’s set to appear in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and that he will be portrayed by Jonathan Majors. The question is: Will he appear before that in Loki?
Kang is a time-traveling entity and Ravonna Renslayer is his love interest in the comics. As the live-action version of her (portrayed by Gugu Mbatha-Raw) seems to be the TVA’s major figurehead, is she the one responsible for bringing him to the MCU?
Time will most certainly tell.
