6. Skaar is working with the enemy

Comic book: Gamma Flight No. 1 (of 5)

Gamma Flight is running from the law and their former employers Alpha Flight. For Titania and Crusher Creel, this is just another day. For Doc Sampson (who’s now in Sasquatch’s body), Puck,  Charlene McGowan, and Rick Jones, it’s a new and difficult life.

While they were setting up, Puck saw a gamma-powered being attacked by the police. They were hesitant to join until they found out that they could cure them. They just needed to get in touch with Skaar. The problem came quickly, however, when Skaar showed up and they discovered he was working with the enemy.

Why is this important?

The big question is why Skaar is working for people that would imprison people. He’s never been someone who works with the machine. He rages against it. This makes you wonder if something happened to him to change his mind. A scarier thought is that he’s enjoying what he’s doing. If Skaar likes what he’s doing, he won’t help Gamma Flight.

Hopefully this isn’t just brainwashing. That would be a cop out. Mind control by any means has been an overused trope. However, Al Ewing is an amazing writer. If Skaar is being controlled, he’ll find a way to make it interesting.
