A Loki

A couple of things make the idea of another Loki being behind the TVA feasible. First we’ve seen that there are multiple Lokis involved in this show. When the series started, it was just Sylvie that accompanied the titular character. A flashback showed that Sylvie was snatched as a child for creating a time anomaly she knew nothing about. However, in the mid-credit scene, we saw multiple Lokis (one of them was an alligator). There has to be a reason why Lokis have been picked on and moved around. The easiest answer is that another Loki is behind it all.

This series has constantly mentioned the God of Mischief doing things because he doesn’t like himself. That, combined with the idea of multiple Lokis, makes this theory plausible. Causing issues with other versions of himself throughout realities would be the ultimate form of chaos and mischief. And, since he’s self-deprecating, this would let him hurt himself without physically doing it.

The Grandmaster

To a lot of comic book fans, the MCU’s Grandmaster – who we saw in Thor: Ragnarok – was a bit of a disappointment. In Marvel Comics, he’s much more powerful, boasting leftover power from the Big Bang and being one of the oldest beings in the universe. He’s not just some guy in charge of a planet.

The Grandmaster does love his games and he is certainly narcissistic, but he doesn’t need other people to do his bidding. Sure, he was fun, but he could have been so much more. This could be an opportunity to right a wrong.

There were some similarities between the MCU and Marvel Comics versions of the Grandmaster. For instance, both enjoy watching people fight for their enjoyment. Playing with the timeline would be the biggest game of them all. Instead of Monopoly, the Grandmaster could be playing with a metaphorical ant farm, watching everyone scurry around while he enjoys the mayhem.

It would be easy to see him playing this game.
