Loki’s penultimate episode wasn’t short of any shocks, but what did it all mean?

Loki may be new but it’s already picked up the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s knack for intricate storytelling, jaw-dropping moments and post-credit scenes that will leave you every bit as confused as you are amazed.

The most recent episode of the Disney Plus series highlighted that when the God of Mischief was “pruned” out of existence only moments after his new bestie, TVA Agent Mobius M. Mobius, was too. Ever the survivor, however, Loki found himself in a new plane of existence surrounded by other versions of himself.

The Void, as it was known, was another dimension primed to destroy any leftovers of time that the TVA sent its way. As for how those leftovers were ultimately disposed of, well, the Alioth can answer that for you.

Did Kang The Conqueror create the TVA?

Kang the Conqueror is coming to the MCU. Portrayed by Jonathan Majors, he will debut in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania but a lot of Loki theories suggest that he is the one responsible for the creation of the TVA.

More from Disney Plus

The latest episode, “Journey Into Mystery”, does quite a but to support this theory. First off, the Alioth – that smoky monster in the sky that liked to consume everything around it – has history with Kang in the comics. The first being who broke free from time, Alioth the Usurper forged a temporal empire much larger than Kangs’ and nearly destroyed his at one point in time.

It would be pretty ironic if the MCU adapted the creature as a form of temporal protection for Kangs. We know the creature was essentially housing the person responsible for creating the TVA, so it would make sense if that person was a temporal master like Kangs.

Moreover, Ravonna Renslayer herself is attempting to protect that individual. Now, given that we already know the pair are lovers in the comics, it wouldn’t be too hard to believe that this is only the beginning of their on-screen partnership as she attempts to prevent Sylvie from stopping him.

Loki adds its season finale to Disney+ next Wednesday, July 14, at 12:00 a.m. PT and 3:00 a.m. ET.
