Loki and Sylvie find a way to fight back against the TVA and whoever is behind their madness.

Previously in Loki, the God of Mischief and Sylvie discovered a secret: The Time-Keepers aren’t organic beings, they’re robots. Before they could catch their breath and let that discovery sink in, however, Ravonna pruned Loki.

Sylvie managed to fight Ravonna off and then demanded to know everything about the TVA. But just when it looked like our Loki was gone, he found himself in a new world with multiple versions of himself. What’s next for these two Gods of Mischief in the Disney Plus series? Let’s find out.

Ravonna doesn’t know

Sylvie has Ravonna at her mercy. It looks like we’re going to find out the mystery to the TVA and the Time-Keepers in some incredible flashback. We received none of that. Instead, we found out that Ravonna is in the dark just as much as Sylvie. However, we do find out where Loki is.

Loki is in a place where the end of time meets itself. In this reality, there’s a being called Alioth that eats everything that the TVA prunes. Nothing ever escapes. The other four variants that the God of Mischief ran into have tried to escape and have never succeeded. Now, their only concern is surviving.

This wasn’t the opening we expected, but it was wonderful nonetheless. The explanation for pruning and the world that the pruned find themselves on was dealt with quickly. This gave viewers an immediate big bad to worry about. Moreover, the younger Loki seemed ruthless and bossy from his introduction – setting him up as a formidable personality too. Finding out that he killed Thor was a nice touch because it suddenly made sense why he was feared and respected among the other variants.

Too smart for the TVA

After Ravonna explained everything she knew about the TVA to Sylvie, they agreed to help each other. But Ravonna didn’t know what was really going on as she simply explains where the pruned variants go and what The Void actually is. Sylvie, however, thinks that beyond this realm, in a time void, is where she’ll find who’s in charge.

Ravonna has an idea to use an experimental ship to get them to the void. Problem is, there’s no such thing. She was trying to trick Sylvie in an attempt to buy more time to call in her guards. Too bad Sylvie picked up that Ms. Minutes’ “search” was taking too long. Rather than allowing herself to be killed by the guards, Sylvie prunes herself to go where Loki went.

Sylvie continues to prove how cunning she is, especially in the heat of the moment. She knew what was happening and made a quick decision knowing that pruning herself would get her to Loki. Even if it didn’t, it was better than death at the hands of the TVA or an endless time loop prison.

King of the Lokis

Loki and the rest of his variants were hiding out in their youngest variant’s home. While there, the oldest tells his tale. We find out that the only difference between him and the MCU’s God of Mischief is that he tricked Thanos and ran away. The only reason he got caught by the TVA was down to the fact that he wanted to leave seclusion.

As he leaves their safe space, the MCU’s Loki is met by this desolate Earth’s big boss Loki and other variants. A shenanigan-filled fight ensues with one variant having his hand bitten off by the alligator.

Finding out how the older version survived was a real nice touch. It showed us what could have happened if Loki had tricked Thanos and escaped. He wouldn’t have fought back and would have hid instead – a decision that seemed to make the MCU’s version ashamed. However, he did redeem himself in the end and find his glorious purpose.

Mobius to the rescue

Mobius saving Sylvie at the last minute was very Owen Wilson. We didn’t even need his classic “wow.” The pizza at the top of the car and his joke was goofy enough to make us laugh but it didn’t take away from the heroic moment.

We knew he survived being pruned after seeing that everyone else did. His return had to be memorable and it was just that.

Beautiful moment

Everyone has discussed how perfect the character development in Loki has been. This was just another example of that. Loki and Sylvie both opened up with each other in a way that they haven’t before by being vulnerable. Speaking about what was next and how this is the first time they’ve had someone was something that we’ll never forget, especially Loki saying to Sylvie that maybe they should plan a future together.

Glorious review

Every episode of Loki has gotten better than the previous one – something that furthers this writer’s point about TV shows working better than movies. Each episode has showcased a new side of the main characters.

In this one, we saw the redemption of a character like Classic Loki – someone there wouldn’t have been enough time for in a movie. Here, we got to see how powerful a Loki variant can be and watched him help save the day and show his glorious purpose. He conjured up Asgard by himself. Honestly, that alone was worth the watch.

Mischievous moments

This writer hopes you caught Throgg (frog Thor) in the jar. It was funny and sort of sad.

Ravonna really believes in the TVA way. This is how you build an evil villain

It’s nice how they built a show called Loki and it’s equally about two of them.

The moment between Loki and Sylvia outside in the cold was beautiful. It wasn’t overly romantic. It was more friendly than anything. But it was very powerful.
