15 surprising facts you didn’t know about Black Widow
She’s been on teams outside of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Avengers
Those familiar with the MCU have seen Natasha join both S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Avengers, with the latter becoming her family over time. She’s part of both organizations in the comics as well, and they’re probably the biggest groups she’s a member of — though they aren’t the only ones.
Since her debut in Marvel Comics, Black Widow has found herself on a number of hero teams, including Heroes for Hire, Lady Liberators, and the Secret Avengers.
Fans of Netflix’s Marvel shows may recognize some of the names within Heroes for Hire, like Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Jessica Jones. Had these characters ever joined the MCU, it’s possible Black Widow would have eventually teamed up with them. That’s something she does in the comics, though that’s a storyline unlikely to make its way to the screen.
Natasha’s involvement in the Lady Liberators and Secret Avengers probably won’t get to play out in the MCU either. The franchise had its chance to work in the Secret Avengers — a team led by Steve Rogers that includes the likes of Sharon Carter, Hawkeye, and Ant-Man — but it never took that route.
The films and shows could still introduce the Lady Liberators, an all-female group of superheroes being exploited by the Enchantress, but Natasha won’t be around to see it. Characters like She-Hulk, Valkyrie, and Spider-Woman could still form the group. In fact, it would be a logical direction to go if Loki‘s Sylvie does wind up being Enchantress.
