Nearly two years after Marvel first announced the film at the San Diego Comic-Con event in 2019, Black Widow has arrived in theaters in what can best be described as an epic spy thriller and one of Marvel’s shining moments.
In her long-overdue solo feature, Natasha Romanoff finally gets the chance to confront the demons of her past in looking to put a stop to Dreykov’s reign of terror as the leader of the Red Room, aka the Black Widow Program.
Along her journey, Natasha goes toe-to-toe with Marvel villain Taskmaster, a masked assassin who carries out deadly missions on behalf of the Red Room. The skilled fighter has the ability to mimic the fighting styles of any opponent making, setting the stage for some truly incredible action sequences.
In the comics, it is the character of Anthony Masters who is under the Taskmaster mask; however, Black Widow puts a major spin on the character’s origin story with a genius plot twist that is sure to leave fans talking.

While some might have been expecting to find Anthony Masters under Taskmaster’s mask in Black Widow, in the film the character is instead revealed to be Antonia Dreykov, the daughter of Ray Winstone’s villain Dreykov.
As we discover, Antonia was thought to have been killed in an explosion designed to kill Dreykov which Natasha initiated. However, Antonia survived the explosion and was instead turned into Dreykov’s personal assassin, commanded to carry out heinous acts on Red Room’s behalf.
Don’t miss Black Widow in theaters and on Disney Plus via Premier Access beginning Friday, June 9.
